Would someone out in Readerland please read this dog's mind and tell us what she wants. Please? (click on the picture for the full effect)
Because we honestly DON'T KNOW.
Her nightly ritual at 9:45 pm has become *grrr, grrr* then BARK! BARK! BARK! then a series of meaningful looks that plead..."you KNOW what I want. C'mon. Give me what I want."
But we DON'T know. We know it's not "out". We know it's not "play". We know it's not "toy" or "cat". All attempts are met with only frustrated sighs and dog groans.
I guess I don't even need to say that this never happened in the old house.
As I type this, the cycle has been repeated twice and it is beginning again. From the top. With the *grrr's*.
WHAT DOES SHE WANT????!!!!!!

Maybe she wants you to go to bed?

Maybe SHE wants to go to bed. Ours does this when her bed cover needs washing and she can't stand the smell of herself anymore.

maybe she wants to go "home." how long have you been in your "new" house? we just moved and our dog was a mess from the very beginning of packing until this current moment (4 weeks post move). we decided that she first thought she'd get left behind - we adopted her after her previous owner moved and then gave her up. now we figure it's just the uncertainty of things. sheesh, who knew dogs had issues?

Duh.
COOKIE!

We TRIED cookie (well, carrot. She actually prefers those.) And I washed her bedding. But last night, at 9:45 pm...the mysterious cycle repeated itself.
We honestly don't know what is up. Very strange.

hmmm...maybe there's something happening outside your house every night at 9:45, that only dog ears can hear. like a neighbor letting their dog out for a final potty break. or a racoon heading out on its nightly rounds. or someone down the street practicing the violin very badly...
our lab generally doesn't bark at passers-by, but there is a grumpy chow on our street that gets a rise out of her every time he takes a walk. even if the windows are closed, she gets barky and antsy when ming goes by the house. we have a total of 10 dogs living on our block, but ming is the only one she woofs and worries about.

Please scratch my ears so I can give you big wet sloppy lab kisses.... or ... quit typing on that computer thing and come snuggle with me...

aha!!
it is "I want what you have and I can't have."
people food. she wants people food. hmmm. she's getting a little spoiled in the new house or....the last time she lived in a house (with her previous family), there was a toddler about. who dropped food. and since WE usually aren't eating until 9:30 p.m. (even though SHE is fed like clockwork at 6:30 am and 6:30 pm)....
we can only guess that this look means:
"can I have some of that? please? please? please?"

Can i get help with my black lab? Just a few days ago he started to groan when we pet him on his neck. But then he stops when u stop petting him. but when u start petting him again he doesnt make noise. When he groans his look is sort of like an unhappy/angry/hurt look, but then he jumps around and goes to be petted by someone else. What is wrong with him?

Hi Coco!!! It's your old family from Arlington Heights! We can tell by looking at this photo (immediately) that you want food!
You're lovely, smart, caring family knows you well (yeah for carrots!). Yet, it took us reading through to the last note to confirm that they understand...what they are eating interests you, as well!
Liam remembers you, Coco, looking at him with those big eyes! He said, "I know, Coco, you're following your instincts...you want what Jeanne and Aaron are eating!"
We love seeing how healthy and very very happy you look! We've arranged to visit sometime soon...we'll give your Mom and Dad PLENTY of notice...and we'll pick a fun meeting place! Liam and Aidan want to bring you a special surprise...!
Love,
The Burkes (Patrick, Krista, Liam and Aidan)

It could mean the dog is seeing a ghost in the house. She may be trying to tell you. Feel any cold spots? It would be really cool to have your own ghost.
