We're still working on the first floor bathroom. Today J did great work on the first floor bathroom tile.
It's not completely done, but J made AMAZING progress! Check out her handiwork...
...it's fun to see the original floor come back, even though there are some cracks and problems. After we finish cleaning and bleaching the majority of the tile, we'll be focusing on the edges where some of the tile has been damaged or removed.

Ohhhh... I hope there is something like that under the layers of vinyl in our bathroom. But I doubt it.

Ouch, lil'n--my back! This was 8 rolls of paper towels later...after we had scraped the majority of the tar off with a razor scraper! Tar is yucky, yucky, yucky.
But here is a something worth noting. When you pour on the "tar remover", you can't help it. It splashes little drops everywhere and this stuff is SO toxic. So I put down old towels (left in the house of course!) soaked in the remover OVER the tar, put cardboard sheets over that and then let the whole thing sit for the required amount of time. The towels let you direct where the tar remover goes...like AROUND fixtures or wood trim (and not ON it!)
That helped a lot.

Those little flowers are so cute! Why would anyone want to cover that up!?

We've tried bleaching our bathroom hex tiles & found it less than satisfactory. An architect I know recommended a muriatic acid solution & we are going to try that soon, along with regrouting (w/ light gray, no point in trying white) & then sealing the tile to try to keep it cleaner looking. I'll let you know if it works (& no question it's VERY TOXIC stuff).
