While trying to solve the mysteries of our plumbing (where do all of the pipes GO?), J spies a couple of sheets of metal lightly nailed to the ceiling by the stairs.
Like the Nancy Drew wanna-be that she is, she cannot resist prying these off. (With A's reluctant permission first--he's amused and being indulgent. She's still has laryngitis.)
Um, wow. Lots of newspaper. Looks like the water pipes travel in, do a u-turn and head back above the plaster from whence they came. After doing a neat little split first for the laundry.
Of course, the newspaper is the most FASCINATING to J. But it is so old and fragile, it falls into pieces like confetti.
And then, kind of a strange thing. Today is Sunday, December 14th. Can you see the date on this newspaper?

Sunday, December 13, 1925. Wow. This pre-dates the last PO's. AND the Great Depression. This was the KJELDSEN'S Sunday paper!!! Wow!
Tomorrow: What were the headlines in Chicago during December, 1925?
