Wow, they let you have open fire in Chicago? It's not allowed in Providence. And we've never even *had* a big, destructive city-sweeping fire here! :) Some friends wanted a fire pit at a summer party and the fire dept. said there's no open burning allowed. Shame all their lathe went in the Dumpster.

One of our neighbors still heats her house by wood stove. She was excited to see the pile of lathe building up in our side yard, as it does make great kindling. She wanted our trashed beadboard as well, but after talking it over we decided that burning old lead paint was probably a bad idea.
