Yeah....we love AUGUST in Chicago.
What is up with this weather? Pollution blotting out the sun? Global warming? Or a REALLY big bird? Your guess is as good as mine.
(Sorry, I HAVE to include this because it is one of the most unfortunate logos EVER...
Note to the EPA: Put your hands on the monitor and step away from the clip art. Is this how bad our priorities are in this country? The EPA has to use CLIPART while Barney gets his own overdesigned PAGE???
Sorry, that gets a 10 out of 10 for poor management of my tax money.)

ohmigosh! you're right! I will burn in h**l! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! oh wait! wait! Phew....our A/C unit is WAY more efficient and thus emits less emissions than the window A/C units we had and which our neighbors use. And with the new ventilation/insulation in place with our stucco outer walls, we'll be keeping the house cool naturally and won't have to turn to it except on very grueling hot & humid days.
(How about I was freaked out enough to look that up?)
It's a good reminder for folks who are considering A/C though. Try to use a combination of natural house cooling strategies plus a very energy efficient and well placed A/C unit (if you need one) to cut down on operating costs and thus, emissions and electricity use.

For the record, I hate Barney. And most clip art.

11 days later...
Here in the northwet, 50 was our high...
Cold, wet, dark grey. Been that way for several days.
Don't you just hate those dog days of august ?
; )
I think we had a total of 12 days this year, over 75 degrees. None over 85.
