Building a Laundry Chute, Part Two

Category: Do it Yourself

Tonight I built the second half of the laundry chute box.

This will rest on top of the first. The next challenge will be cutting holes in the floor and ceiling, then installing the two halves of the box in place.

More to come...!

Love your website, but I have one question about the laundry chute; why didn't you use sheet metal instead of melamine?

The choice of melamine was just personal preference, really. Because we're forced to use a closet instead of a wall cavity, sheet metal would have still required framing in some sort of finish-grade material for the outside surface of the chute. Melamine provided a smooth interior and a presentable exterior in a single material.
