Last week, some guys helping to deliver some materials forgot to shut the front door behind themselves.
Three hours later (!) when this was discovered, you can see:
a) where the mailperson neatly stacked the mail inside of the doorway.
b) we are heating the city of Chicago.
c) Dave's wistful look as he discovers the open door the same time that I do. If he hadn't been napping, the world could have been his oyster. Or cat toy. Or...whatever.
Poor Dave. Poor Dave.

I'm surprised he didn't sense the open door sooner. With my cats, its always a mad dash to see who gets to the door first.

Oh the horror! Oh the relief!

Tybee, our dog, would have been halfway to Cleveland had he had an opportunity like that. We're not sure he knows how good he has it. But he spent some portion of his first four months of life as a stray (he was found running in traffic), so you'd think he'd be at least a little grateful for the inexhaustible supply of Eukanuba, queen-sized bed (that humans also occasionally get to sleep in), constant snuggles, and endless tolerance from his owners. Oh well. Glad Dave stayed put.

I don't often comment on your site but had to respond to this picture of Dave, who you know I love. If AJ and I had known that a wide open door was not enough to lure Dave outside, we would have saved a great deal of time and worry two Thanksgivings ago when we thought he escaped to roam the thrilling streets of West Rogers Park. I'll file this away for future reference the next time you go to China and Dave stays at our place.
