Finally, Paint!

Category: Restore & Repair

OK now! As I wrote last night, we've made good progress last night and today. I've been working on finishing the trim in the bathroom. Jeannie, on the other hand, had the more glamorous project: painting the upstairs master bedroom and office/second bedroom.

That's right, after more than a year we're finally to the painting phase!

After determining how much paint we needed (here's a handy paint estimator, by the way) Jeannie went off to Sherwin Williams to pick it up.

The best thing was that we weren't alone...Lisa came over and spent a good part of the day helping.

Jeannie has titled Lisa "The Machine" because she's so quick. I didn't think they'd get both rooms with a first coat, but they even finished a second coat in one room.

The end result is certainly gratifying. Our chosen color--White Sage--is the same one we used in our old condo. (We're going to use a second darker color--Whispering Pine--in the master bedroom nook, but we didn't get to that today.) It looks really nice.

Looks great guys. Nice, light color choice. Looks like your master bedroom is going to be very light and airy.

It's beeeyootiful! That room is going to be so lovely. I'm so glad to see y'all getting to this satisfying stage after all your hard work.

woohoo! I am really happy for you guys. :)

I'm quite envious, particularly of the windows which look spectacular against those flawless walls. You guys have done, in the Virginia vernacular, "good."

Back to pulling cable...

Can I mention that painting is a REALLY GREAT UPPER BODY WORKOUT?!? It's two days later and, um, ouch.

i like that color. and the natural light in the bedroom is awesome.

Beautiful color! The light is so amazing.

So... I know we all have preferences, but I'd heartily suggest doing the rest of the house with Benjamin Moore paints. It's a little more expensive, but you don't need two coats (which makes beautiful happen faster, and works out to cheaper!) and it's scrub-resistant so you can clean off marks and other problems easily.
