Punchlist Progress: Bathroom Medicine Cabinet

Category: Restore & Repair

Slowly but surely, we'll be taking care of everything on our second floor punchlist. Last night we took care of the first item: installing the master bathroom's medicine cabinet.

And since earlier this week I got a (well deserved) hard time for publishing a photo of J that she didn't think was all that flattering, here's a not-so-fabulous photo of me hard at work to make up for it.

Ah, the glamour of home improvement... ;-)

The photo of you may not be glamorous, but the medicine cabinet is pretty sexy.

I'm drooling at the eye candy!
The, ahem, medicine cabinet, of course.

Awww you guys are cute and you know it! Come on now-- stop fishing for compliments ;P

Hey that's my bathroom! The only difference is the outlet is on the right. I really like the color. Ours is more of a pale green. Is that a rejuvination medicine cabinet?

Jim--We bought the medicine cabinet as a kit from Van Dykes...it's similar to a Rejuvination model but it was cheaper.

I really like the light fixtures next to the medicine cabinet in your remodeled bathroom. Is the rest of the bathroom complete? It'd be nice to see a shot of the whole bathroom now that you have remodeled the whole medicine cabinet area.

Good job!

great bathroom. really. beautiful.
and a great blog as well.

Where did you get your sconces? They're lovely.

It was a stock item at the Great Indoors, actually. Unfortunately, I think they're out of business and I don't know the manufacturer. Sorry!

Great site. Love looking at your photos and reading what you found, how you solved things, etc.

How did you attach the VanDyke medicine cabinet in the blue bathroom? Nail through the front trim into the studs (or framed box)? I have a recessed medicine cabinet from Rejuvenation (Mendenhall). The directions (and a salesperson at the store) recommend to finish nail or screw straight through the front (countersunk), and then cover with woodputty, sand and paint. I don't like the idea of doing that through the front trim pieces with screws, but I worry the nails won't quite hold up over time. Just wondering how you solved that part.

Thanks again,
- Mike
