So, with Grace surprising us with her early arrival, we weren't completely prepared. In particular, we hadn't quite gotten to that whole "nursery" thing...

Admittedly, Grace won't be spending a whole lot of time in a nursery for awhile but there's something about the room that just seemed to say "DCFS*"...so, we spent a bit of time this past weekend finally getting things up to snuff.
* Department of Children and Family Services.
We're still looking for a good wardrobe for extra storage, and for the nursery rocking chair, which is scheduled for delivery in early February. That said, it's coming together...

So of course, many thanks are due to friends and family who've contributed to all the great booty in Grace's room...
You know what they say, it takes a village!

I love the color of the walls against the woodwork, and that chest of drawers is awesome.

Very nice. I love the color on the walls! And that rocker is wonderful! You're right that the nursery isn't something you'll need right away but having it ready is somehow comforting. We didn't finish S's until he was almost a year old!

DCFS, ha! Thanks for the early morning laugh.
The rug makes the room look warm and fuzzy.

Awww - how pretty. It looks like a very relaxing and peaceful room. I especially like the quilt. I'm sure Grace's great-great-great gram would be proud to see her work hanging in a nursery like that!

Grace decided to show up early because she wanted to try out her new pink tool belt and help build the nursery.

Does your mobile have little airplanes or helicopters over the boats? If so I HAVE to know where it's from. My mom is making a quilt for our baby's room with little airplanes on the top and boats on the bottom. And Tim's mom got us the neatest helicopter clock.
I love the quilt. It reminds me of the one my grandmother made for me when I was born.

The mobile has seagulls over the sailboats. It was a gift from Grace's grandparents...I'll have to ask them where they got it, but I believe it was at a shop in the Seattle area.

We got the mobile in Stockholm, Sweden in September. There were several shops that were carrying it in Gamla Stan, meaning Old Stockholm, which is on the island in the center of the city with wonderful walking streets, very old housing and shops, and great restaurants and shops. Very soothing room- There is just something about all that baby "stuff" that it just soooooo endearing- kind of like the babies themselves.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to hit my sister's boyfriend up and see how close he is to Stockholm (I know he lives some where in Sweden).

Looks like it's coming together. You're right...the baby doesn't care anyway at this stage! Love that dresser!

What color is on the walls? I really like it! (And sorry if you mentioned it before; I checked a couple of related posts and didn't see any mention of it.)

The color on the nursery walls is "white sage" from Pittsburgh Paints...one of my favorite colors on the planet.
