Okay, it's been four weeks today since I began my descent into Sleep Deprivation Land, my arms pinned down under the weight of a cute, yet squirmy, infant. It's odd, at 3:00 a.m., to be pacing the floors with said infant and thinking things like, "I really need to install the rest of the pulls on those drawers" and "What is going to be our plan for repouring the footing on the sunroom?" When I SHOULD be thinking, "How on EARTH am I going to pay for this kid's college education??!! And will it really cost as much as one family vacation to a certain Orlando themepark??!!" (I think so.)
But today! Today I was able to strap the kid in the Bjorn and WHOO HOO! Free at last! Free at last! My hands were free at last!!! And, holding my tools certainly felt good...for 10 whole minutes.

Why do I look so tired? Well, it's not from working on the house...yet. The kid is hungry every two hours these days and is not the world's most efficient burper. No rest for the wicked. Or the mommies.
But the top of her head smells really nice. Much nicer than sawdust even.

I feel you... I have a 22 month old and we are doing lot's of work on the house to put it on the market. I have never felt more preoccupied in my life. It's horrible to have to sacrifice baby time for home renovations!!! Luckily we've only got a couple more weeks to go.

I can't believe maternity leave is only 6 weeks in the states. It's almost a year in Canada. Yeah, saving money for college is important, but so is having a nice environment to grow up in.

I envy you. At this stage of my life, I would much rather hold a 4 month old baby than a hammer & square. POPS --30--

Hang in there...in a couple of months those feedings will be around every 5 hours and the baby with any luck will sleep for a majority of the time between feedings. You might get 5 or 6 months like that...then the real fun begins! Right now your best bet is planning how your are going to get everything you ever wanted to do to that house done in 4 months. Once the kids starts crawling you will be stuck doing all your renovations after she goes to bed at night. Then you just have to pray she's a deep sleeper. :D

Think of it this way: the work you put into the house IS paying for Grace's college. After all, the house will be that much more valuable when you have to get a second mortgage in 18 years.

Actually - my very first thought when I saw today's pic was "you are looking really good". Get your rest! Let the drawer pulls wait!
