Things That Have Broken...

Category: Daily Diary

...since I last blogged:

-Our station wagon (new head gaskets = yuck)

-Our laptop

-Aaron's iPod, which is also his car radio since that was broken awhile back.

-Dishwasher (but I fixed it)

-Windshield wiper on the station wagon.

In other news, we have broken through the ceiling in the front room (whoo hoo!) and I am happy to report that, although too shallow and kind of bouncy, the joists are not broken.  And that is a very good thing.

This seems to happen every 1-2 years, without fail.  Perhaps we should just begin to figure it into the budget.

Wow, it must be contagious too. We've have our own revolution here lately. Everything from Christmas lights to cars breaking on us lately.

At this point, if we were going to budget for this stuff, I'd need a second job to cover it all. My wife's car cost $2500.

Are you going to beef up the shallow bouncy joints? If they are going to all be exposed, I think it's pretty easy by either doubling up the joists or "laminating" them with plywood.

Yep! We're sistering those bad boy joists so that the infrastructure is more sound. That's why the ceiling came down. Well, that and the bouncy joists above the ceiling really shredded the ceiling itself.

GAH! Why does it always happen in waves like that?

Cheers on busting through the ceiling!

Akkk, what a run of bad luck. Maybe some good news though - AppleCare is awesome, so if you got that you're all set. I've had 2 broken iPods replaced the day I took them to the store even though they were all banged up and shoddy.

The key, according to inside sources, is to take the iPod to the store and be very nice to the employees. You're much more likely to get a replacement that way.

At least the joists aren't broken, that's good news!
