Yes, the bee. It is a carpenter bee. They are heading straight for the little gap between the gutter and the gutter board that was left unpainted by the previous owner. Hopefully, the damage will be easily fixed.

Yeck.

Good luck on that one. It's an annual battle for us - we love the redwood but the carpenter bees love it more.

Yikes! Jeff (Lisa's brother) and Karen met these creatures last summer after building a pergola. The bees bore into the 2 X 4s or 4 X 6s or whatever. Karen tried a spray with a 6 inch nozzle on the can and the small tubelike nozzle completly dsappeared in the hole. Don't know what they used - Lisa can find out.
