Speaking of Salvage and Old House Parts

Category: Restore & Repair

Man, there is a steady stream of old house parts showing up on Craigslist these days.

Like these SIXTY solid panel, Prairie-Style oak doors.

Copper Roof Panels

Terra Cotta and Limestone Pieces

Leaded Glass Doors

Old Chicago bricks

And a gorgeous bungalow front door.

That's just in the last few days. I don't even want to see what they are replacing them with. Gah!

And don't even look at this listing for salvage from the St. Paul School in Pilsen. It will make you cry. Especially if you own a Victorian. Just the door hardware alone! Oh. My.

In my bungalo in Chicago, I had 3 very heavy bronze door lock sets. I borrowed them from the McCormick building on Van Buren & Jackson. Thay were beautiful, very heavy with the LJM initials on the knobs. When I sold the buyer insisted I leave them. POPS --30--

I would be willing to donate money to the school just to see those things stay in the school
