I just read my blog post from earlier today and it was entirely too long. Like, War and Peace long. So here is the short version:
I learned how to use power tools by following a farm boy around and watching him fix things. I also learned how to do things from reading the internet. I think there should be more practical, hands-on workshops for women on how to use power tools and home repair because I think it builds self-reliance. I would teach a workshop like this if I had the opportunity. Or there should be more cute farm boys to follow around. Or something. World peace?
The End
There. That's better.

Does that mean I need to paraphrase my comment too? Here goes...
Just do it. You'll be glad you did.

Well, I liked them both, and there should be more cute farm boys.
I will go you one better and get my own War-and-Peace post from today down to one line: a mouse was in the dishwasher. Perhaps you should declare one-line post day?

Okay, I ended up writing a WnP self-reliance post too, so here's my one-line summary: "All I need to know about self-reliance I learned from my dad."
No cute farmboys. Though Mom tends to look at those pictures and say "Dad sure was handsome." And she sounds like it *surprises* her.
And certainly no dead mice, though my sister's bunny is looking suspiciously limp...

I also learned how to use power tools from a cute farm boy. He was also responsible for my first cordless drill (my dad also helped but with self-powered tools). Sadly, the cute farm boy is gone (sigh), but I remember him findly as I repair the fascia on my house :-)
