I can't stop staring at these rooms. They just look so incredibly different. It's mind blowing, in person, really.
A long time ago, I wrote about wanting to live in a room so beautiful that I didn't need anything except a bed and a vase of tulips. This is turning out to be one of those rooms.
Even on a gray Chicago day, the walls seem to be awash with light. Even without the llighting turned on, the walls seem to glow a little.

Oh! Bravo! So lovely, it must feel wonderful to see ( and get to live in them!)

This is an excellent example of what I call "Respectful Remodeling". The room has all of the character it had when it was new, and you've incorporated a gas fireplace insert and mini-can lights seamlessly. Instead of sticking out like a sore thumb, the modern elements blend-in and actually add character to the room. Well done!

Your livingroom is just beautiful. The paint color on your walls is perfect.
Do you ever walk past and say to yourself "Is this really MY living room?" All that time you spent striping those windows was so worth it.
We just finished our master bath after a year and my husband was wondering when he could actually use it. It looks so pretty and clean, you almost want to leave it on display and use the other bathrooms!

Beautiful. I stumbled across your Blog looking for ideas for a mission or arts & crafts mailbox for my house. I'm in the middle of my own renovation but perhaps not as intense as yours. I used to live in the city and it's nice to be reminded of the area :)

Would it be possible to post some higher resolution images? Or do you plan to when finished? Thanks -> Jay

This is just NOT the same house you moved into all those long years ago! And this is a good thing.

That's worth all of the work you put in right there!!! WOnderful blend of old and new, of good craftsmanship. LOVE it. The green tiles and the paint complement each other perfectly!

We're still waiting to hear where you got the tiles!!! Sigh. I love tile. Your fireplace looks fabulous, and your earlier post about the grout made me realize there are others out there like me.

Absolutely gorgeous. The chair looks like a perfect spot to just sit back and enjoy the room, or read a book in complete comfort and not think about what needs to be done in the room. Congratulations!

Truly beautiful. I am filled with envy.
I would never put Swiss cheese lights in an old house, but that's just me.
