Today I came across a link to HomeVestor's 2nd annual Ugliest House of the Year contest. Even though it's been over five years since we first moved in to our own fixer-upper, photos like this one still give me flashbacks.
Thankfully, our place was never as bad as some of the places in this contest but it does look like some of the rooms in our house when we first took position. It all makes me wonder how we lived through it all...
Check out more of the ugly home entries in the contest here.

Scariest was the one with the baby's carseat on the sofa. Doesn't bear thinking of . . .

Yes, really pathetic vs. ugly in my mind. Those pictures are shocking enough to prompt more items going into the garage sale next year! Clutter is just one step away from squalor.

The house I purchased at foreclosure looked a lot like this. It had been abandoned for a year or more. Kids had been using and abusing it as a clubhouse. I completely gutted and renovated it. I blogged about this experience at http://www.garbes.com/hd-blog/index.php?cat=15

I am right there with you. I detailed the glamorous life of a real estate investor, by highlighting some of my messiest spaces in a post a short while back as well.
It's amazing the things you can live through when you are dedicated.
